I bought a can last week and applied it.... result....
C**P with a capital C !
After proper preparation, the result after 2 coats is a patchy white that
looks just like primer.
Any one else get a similar result ?
I thought it was too good to be true.

All the good decorators I know use only Dulux. A few experiences of other
paints have convinced me that is a good idea.

I haven't tried it yet, so can't comment on its effectiveness... but the
TV advertising makes some statements which probably can't be justified.

never used it, but take it back and get a refund.

Perhaps a call to the ASA is in order?

How does Crown compare? I would have rated them equal, but I've got
no real basis for that- is Dulux usually better?
Nigel
Its pretty impossible to say that Dulux is better, its only a brand name
after all, it depends what products you would be using from their range,
and whether or not there is anything comparable in a competitors range
at around the same price.
However that said... Dulux Trade is very well regarded by most
proffessional decorators, although the overwhelming majority wouldn't
use it for cost reasons. As for Dulux Retail well thats a very different
story... I wouldn't even consider using it... I can pick up very high
quality proffesional paints from an independent decorators merchant for
less than half the cost of Dulux Retail, and far superior specialist
alternatives at around the same price or less.
The same situation can be applied to Crown - Crown retail or Crown
trade, or for that matter... Brolac, Macphersons, Permoglaze, Magicote,
Sandersons, Albany, Valspar, Sandtex etc... as they are all manufactured
by Akzo Nobel out of their Darwin or Hull plants.

The decorators I use claim that the extra cost is more than offset by
the time saved by using a better product. However, it may be that they
tend to put quality before price, which is one virtue I generally look
for in contractors. One of them I chose because I saw him doing another
job where he had removed a door from its hinges and laid it flat to
paint it. The other was the one used by the builder who put up our
particularly well appointed factory units and I was impressed by his
work.

I must admit to a tendence to forget that not everyone buys from trade
sources.

i asked my wife to pick up some white gloss on the way home from town
the other day to do my son's bedroom, and she came home with Ever
White..
i was impressed! went on like a dream, and covered beautifully!
until now i've been using dulux liquid gloss, but this stuff will make
a happy replacement, especially if it really does stay forever white!
i've not tried the satinwood though...
