I'm sure that I've seen this discussed here before, but the only info
that I can find in dejanews concerns conversion to oil. Anyway subject
line says it all really - does anyone know if it is possible to convert
a solid fuel Aga to burn natural gas? and if so where can I buy a
conversion kit.

Aga themselves weren't very helpful and just put me in touch with
another company (Harworth Heating) who again just do kits to convert to
oil. Maybe it's not possible and I'm imagining that I read that someone
had done it.

many thanks, John

Yes, it is very possible. Ours has been converted to gas, albeit not by us.
We had our local Aga-man in to quote for some refurbishment (its about 50
years old and looking a bit sad) and asked if there was a tidier conversion
available now, because it sits to one side and is a bit agricultural (works
though). He said no, they haven't changed it. By inference, therefore, it is
still available.

Email me off-group if you'd like the name and number of our local Aga
supplier/maintenance company because they seem very knowledgeable and
helpful.

I'll also look up the manual for the conversion cook when I get home, and
post tomorrow with the manufacturers name and number.

My cousin had a solid fuel Rayburn (used for heating, hot water, and
cooking), which was converted to gas - mine was converted to oil.
I don't know who provided the kit, but they're in Sutherland, so it
may have been a Scottish company.

Most scrap yards offer a most economical conversion programme for
Agas and their rotten spawn.

As I posted recently in another thread we are now
afflicted with yet another set of legislation which
effectively puts a block on converting appliances due to
compliance or the lack of it with the CE directives on
combustion efficiency. Strictly speaking this appliers
to oil as well as gas conversions but the enforcement of
the oil side is likely to be a bit less stringent since
CORGI aren't involved. There is an oil organisation
(OFTEC) but as yet they haven't much in the way of
teeth.
Regardless of the politics I personally think we ought
to get out of Europe now before we submerge in yet more
of these rules which the other countries have the good
sense to ignore but we for some reason think have to do
the right thing about obeying them.

It was converted by "Don Burners Ltd"
A quick check of yell.co.uk suggests they are still going, albeit with a
name change. Try
