The attack is by a group of trolls, almost certainly using false names and
email addresses.
The objective is to create an angry response, which because people just hit
the reply button, and do not read which ngs the post is being directed to
goes to many ngs. Result mayhem :-(
My intention is to warn those usenet *users* and *newsgroups* attacked,
including:
uk.culture.language.English,uk.culture.museums,
uk.current-events.foot-and-mouth,uk.current-events.general
of this ploy and encourage everybody to check the ng line on follow ups.
This should reduce the mayhem caused.
Also to negate this ploy in future.
