My friend who works as a warehouse operative did a course with them and he
wasn't satisfied
he had a lot of trouble getting telephone support with them. They didn't
respond quickly to his
requests.
Also I invited one of their salesman to my house and he was an idiot,
talking all kinds of
rubbish about the huge salaries you can earn in the IT industry after doing
one of their courses.
He had cut-outs of job ads from various trade press journals and magazines,
and he had
selected the ones with salaries of 60 000 per year. I found that to be a
very unrealisitc and
misleading way to persuade someone to take up a course with them.
I have spoken to other training companies and they say entry into IT jobs
with only a
certificate is very dificult and many insist on actual work experience as
well.

check out www.forbesit.com
for a much more professional looking company.
I don't know many other companies but I would shop around if I were you!

my friend who did Scheideggers course is very jaded about training companies
now.

Ben is quite right in what he says. Sadly, a number of training companies
seem to operate in this manner. More realistic salary levels would be:

MCP, little experience £16,000

MCSE, first IT job, £18,000 rising to £24,000 after 3 months

MCSE, three years experience, £30-£36,000

Contractor (only recommended after a few years in a salaried job) -
£200-£400 per day depending on contract. However, watch out for tax
implications of IR35

Technical Writing £350 p.d.

Freelance Apps trainer £150-£250 p.d.- higher rates for VBA/Access type
courses

Freelance Technical Trainer (MCT or equiv) £350-£600 p.d.- higher rates
generally for developers

Consultancy £400-£1000+ p.d. But don't expect to work five days a week for
46 weeks a year!

These are all real figures from our students and associates. They are
obvously subject to great variation depending on which area you specialise
in, but I've tried to make these reflect recent contracts and jobs.

However, we will only take people on if they can demonstrate that they have
the right combination of aptitude, intelligence and determination to succeed
in IT. We then make sure they have both the qualifications and experience
necessary to succeed. Our selection procedures are entirely without
obligation and if you pass, you will be welcome to talk to any of our
current students about their experience of the course before deciding if you
want to sign up. And as well as working hard, we also have a good social
life!

Have a look at our web site at www.traintheworld.com and if you want to take
it further, fill in the Milestones questionnaire form.
