I have a dead leopard install disk. I really need to use my computer, its
working ok but the finder is deaded. I need to back up and then reinstall
but I cant as my apple supplied disk is fucked. Can anyone help me?

What's dead about the disc, and what's dead about the Finder? And what
happened to your backup, whether Time Machine or cloned or made using some
other method?

you will be able to find it on the usual places such as usenet or isohunt,
it is a huge dual layer dvd image though. You have already bought the
license, dont worry about using a downloaded cd.
