I love it. I loved my Mighty Mouse, but oh, you Magic!
The only niggle is that on rare occasions the scroll is a smidge too
sensitive, and I get a slight upward scrolling movement as I bring my
paw up to the mouse to move it, even before I make contact with it.
Presumably when my fingers are in Coulomb view.
The momentum stuff is quite addictive.

Been using it for a week now, and I'm loving it.
But be warned - I have an untypically good track record with Apple mice.
It has the same 'click' charactistics as the Mighty Mouse, ie you have
to lift your finger off to right-click. If this bothers you, you won't
like it.

Thanks for that.
In the Apple Store, when we were playing with them, they seemed pretty
nice, but that one 'feature' would stop me buying one. This is a purely
personal preference, but it's what makes the Mighty Mouse unusable for
me, except as a one button mouse which is really not what I want.
But that's just software. I'll wait to see how they develop it.

I don't know if it isn't actually the firmware on the mouse rather than
the driver, and I doubt that is upgradable. And as that is the same
fault as the mighty mouse, I don't see that they will update it.
Having said that, maybe someone will copy the good bits?

Yes. I received mine yesterday along with the 27" i5, and although I was
initially somewhat sceptical (not having seen/touched it in real life
before), it is actually the best mouse that I've ever used. I used the
default configuration for an hour or so, but then decided to activate
the right-click mode. Works great for me.

I _think_ it tries to match itself to what your Mighty Mouse config was. I
don't recall having to activate 2nd click.
I'd imagine that if you weren't previously using a Mighty Mouse then it
would default to a single-button configuration.
My Oasis of Calm has dried up. However, my Garden of Angry is

That's it. Untick "One finger/secondary click" and you have a one
button mouse.
I use it with my left hand. Like the mighty Mouse before it, it becomes
far better behaved for us southpaws by setting the secondary click to
the left.
That has the side benefit of confusing the b'Jasus out of anybody
playing in my account.

SWMBO goes one further - she's right-handed, but uses her mice in a
left-handed configuration.
She cooks a *damn* fine duck though, otherwise I'd probably have to shoot

Yep, subscribe to all that.
See whether it lasts or develops quirks, as all machinery is wont to do,
but for the time being it is luverly. I mentioned elsewhere that I was
fearing not being able to easily adjust to the different holding
position required for the mouse (normally I grab the mouse with the
whole palm, rest both fingers all the time, etc), but I took to it
straight away and didn't have to think about it.
Once in a while it does interpret grabbing the mouse as a scroll; once
or twice it hasn't responded to a scrolling movement, but in general it
works beautifully and -well, what else, it's a mouse, it works as
advertised.

Do you find that there's a tiny, *tiny* delay between moving the mouse and
the pointer moving, if the mouse has been untouched for a couple of seconds?

The Mighty Mouse (scroll pea) was available in wired and wireless versions.
So far as I can tell the Magic Mouse is wireless only. I'd have preferred a
wired version but there doesn't seem to be one.

The big problem is that all Macs for the last 3-or-so years (at a guess)
have had bluetooth built in as standard.
You might well find your existing dongle works, but I can't think of a way
of testing it short of borrowing a Magic Mouse from some kind soul.

Sounds like a bit of Bluetooth latency, like the mouse is reconnecting
or something?

I'm sure it will exist - it's the bluetooth waking up, and it's
working-as-designed. Otherwise the battery goes flat.

My thoughts as well. I only saw it because it took a _wee_ bit longer than
normal, once, and I started looking for it.

oh good point i was thinking more of a lend. but actually as i haven't
decided what to do about the mouse yet - and it's 55 quid = i might hold
