keep up with safety regulations.

Of course, it would have been a different matter if it had been
Californian regulations.

I had an Yamaha electronic keyboard with a label "This keyboard

They are keeping up, these regulations have only recently been changed.
Sales will cease at the end of this month in compliance with
regulations.

It looks like the USA (for instance) has its own separate set of
regulations derived from (I think) an older version of the IEC standard
in question. Other countries might follow that instead, or have a
further competing set of regulations.

Where that’s not the case, the relevant EU directive leaves it to the
Commission to state which variants of which standards are adopted; so
non-EU countries that, broadly speaking, adopt the IEC standards might
differ on these points.

AIUI the regs were known for some time before they came into force and ,
again AIUI, no other manufacturer has been affected. As was mentioned,
if they had been US regs then they would have jumped quickly enough but
sales outside of the US have always been the poor relation for Apple.

No reason why you should. Apple, OTOH, may be using it as an excuse to
gauge the interest - or objections - when they stop selling the Mac
Pro over here in the Old World!

As I understand it there's only a little afterbuild mod needs to be
made to get it compliant, anyway.
