Lately, I keep getting a "You have run out of application memory message", and
a list of mostly well-behaved applications aren't doing anything excessive.

But photolibraryd - a few moments ago it was up to 49GB. Then it disappears to
0, before the figures start climbing again - and at about 50GB, once more
drops.

What on earth can it be doing? Clearly, bailing out in a hurry each time, but
what an ugly experience for the user.

I'm interested to see if a system update to Sonoma 14.1 or photo library
repair helps.

Guess what: it doesn't.

Merrily climbing up its preposterous slopes again.

I did a bit more research: having removed
~/Library/Photos/Libraries/Syndication.photoslibrary, it has settled back to
normal behaviour.
