I no longer get the oportunity to save the password in any connection
dialogue boxes. I am also unable to connect by just starting IE or typing a
URL at the command prompt.
I recently reformatted my hard drive, and have Win95a, IE4, DUN 1.2.
installed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Alec you have to install Client for the Microsoft network in Dun 1.2

I think you have two problems here. First, your password. You need to
add the Client For Microsoft Networks, before the password can be
saved in the normal DUN connect box. To do this open the Network
settings in Control Panel, the select Add, the choose a new Client,
select Client For Microsoft Networks. Also make sure the Primary
Network Logon is set to Windows Logon. When you reboot, you will be
asked for a username and password, type anything in for the username
but leave the password blank if you don't wish to do this at each boot
up.
Another option is available. That is to install Dunce, which is an
enhancement to DUN, and will remember the password for you amongst
other things, but it is shareware.
As for auto-dialling. First, start IE4 and make sure the Work Offline
option is unchecked. If it is checked, then select it to switch to
Online mode and try to select a site to see if it auto-dials. If it is
unchecked, shut IE4 down again. The automatic dialling should be
revived if you start the Dial-up link by opening Dial-Up Networking
(under Start\Programs\Accessories), then double-clicking on your
connection. When you are connected ok, start IE4. Once you've verified
that IE4 is working ok in online mode, shut it down, and close your
connection. You *should* now find auto-dialling has been re-enabled.
