ide to usb

Hi all, i just bought a ide to usb connection cable that should allow
me to connect any3.5 hd to my laptop, tried it last night and i got
the drive showing in device manager but it would not show up in my
computer im using win 2000 pro.

any advice appreciated

How is the drive formatted?.
My computer, in the case of HD's, actually sees 'partitions', not drives.
If the drive is new, and unformatted, you need to use disk administrator,
and create a partition. If the drive already has a FAT partition, it
should have been seen. However if it has an NTFS partition, you have to
'introduce' this to the OS (again use disk administrator, and assign a
drive letter to the partition).
