I'm looking to upgrade my Gigabyte Sabre 17 laptop from W10 to W11 but
the PC Health Check tells me all is fine except the processor which is
an 'Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz 2.81 GHz'.

It seems that the minimum is '1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 2 or more
cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC)' which
is leaving me a little confused as to why there's a problem.

Anyone able to cast a light on this?

The simple answer is that series 7 processors are not compatible.

There are ways round this, but then you are in unsupported territory.
Unless there is a helluva good reason you must have W11, I suggest you
stay with W10. Or, get a new laptop.

Thanks.

I'll give W11 a miss then (and won't be replacing the laptop!).

Thanks, that was useful.

I'll be sticking with W10!

It's partly a special exception for the original Surface Studio, which has a
5 year old CPU but Microsoft were selling until fairly recently. There
isn't really a good reason why they couldn't support other similar CPUs if
they wanted to.
