Whenever I start up in Windoes 7, I get a message that there are 28
files ready to be written to disk. But I don't really know what the
system is talking about as I have not requested anything to be written
to disk. I have installed some Python software, and this may somehow
resulted in this strange request. It appears that the files reside
somewhere in c:\Users\johannes\Appdata\....

I am only given the choice of either Burn to Disk or Delete the files.
But I'm reluctant to delete the files in case they are needed? So I
tried clicking on Burn to Disk with a sacrificial DVD, but it claimed
that there was no DVD. So how do I get rid of this message on startup?

In article <l14ffk$i83$1...@speranza.aioe.org>, johannes
<jo...@sizefitter.com> writes
This usually happens if you accidentally drag some files or a folder
onto your optical drive, click on the drive when empty and you should
see the files. That's certainly the case with XP, I assume W7 will be
similar.

If you haven't disabled the Windows disk writing software, which is
lamentably bad IIRC. There are free alternatives that are much less
stupid e.g ImgBurn, CDBurnerXP.

Yes, I use an old version of Nero on my other PC. It suggests a writing
speed, then I always use half that speed...

Yes, you're right thanks. The message also prevented my from reading
another DVD.
