Silly question time :)

I currently run a small home network with a standard dial up account
using Analog X's excellent Proxy for sharing net/email access, a client
has asked me to install a similar system for his factory unit using 5
PC's and 1 server, all he wants is net/mail access on the 5 PC's, no
huge downloads just browsing and mail. Question is, is Proxy o.k. for
this? I keep seeing people buying ADSL routers and wondered if they were
a must have for this, is there anything different about ADSL that makes
using a proxy server a non-viable option?.

Kind Regards,

I use Smoothwall on an old machine as an ADSL router and proxy server.
www.smoothwall.org It even works with USB ADSL modems.

If you want it on CD I sell them through my website.

I don't believe you can use smoothwall in a corporate environment.

It's only a 20-odd meg download anyway.

Forget smoothwall. It's been blacklisted by many. Everyone is dumping
it! Get IPCop www.ipcop.org. It's a smoothwall fork, better, faster,
with friendly and helpful support. It's also true GPL so you can use
it any way you wish. Corporate or private.
