I have a laptop which has/had a working PDF virtual printer (pdf995).
Now it won't work - instead of bringing up the "Save File" dialogue, I
get this error message (even from Notepad): "A StartDocPrinter" call was
not issued". I uninstalled and reinstalled PDF995 - no different; I
also installed and tried another similar tool (TinyPDF) - no different.
I also tried the existing Microsoft XPS printer - same error.

Strangely, you can install PDF995 as a shared printer on another machine
- a useful facility which allows you to save the PDF file back on the
local machine. Did that, and the laptop can print to that without any
problems - just not to any local "printer".

Any ideas?
