A friend did a foolish thing with her notebook - put it in her luggage not
her hand baggage.

The glass touch screen digitizer is now seriously cracked.

I normally do her PC fettling and new screens are available e.g.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/REPLACEMENT-LCD-TOUCH-SCREEN-DIGITIZER-FOR-ASUS-
X102B-10-1-INCH-BLACK-COLOR-UK-/151388026951?
pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item233f6df847

However the details include:

"In case of Digitizers before you glue it and completely fit it please
make sure it is functioning properly or not as we will not accept return
if the digitizer is already glued."

This (obviously) indicated that the digitizer is glued to the lid where it
sits above the LCD screen.

This is making me nervous - as is the fact that I can't currently find a
youtube video showing how to replace the digitizer.

Presumably I have to first un-glue the old screen without damaging the
surround, and then glue in the new one (with some as yet unspecified glue).

The only relevant video that I did find showed replacement of the complete
LCD assembly (behind the digitizer), and this involved almost the complete
disassembly of the main PC before the lid and LCD screen could be
disconnected.

So has anyone done this, or found a video showing how to do this?

I am willing to take a certain amount of risk taking a notebook apart but
this is looking extreme.

Cheers

On iPhones the un-gluing is done with a hair dryer/heat gun. I've not done
it.
