DANIEL RADCLIFFE WINS PRESTIGIOUS ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR
Daniel Radcliffe has won Entertainment Weekly’s prestigious ‘Entertainer Of The Year’ award, joining an illustrious list of previous winners including Sandra Bullock, Denzel Washington and Leonardo Di Caprio among many others. The inaugural winner of the award wasn’t even strictly real, 1990’s gong going to cartoon legend Bart Simpson. Thankfully Radcliffe’s performances in ‘Harry Potter – The Deathly Hallows Part 2′ and Broadway have been a little more 3D than the 10 year-old menace and the 22 year-old has been duly rewarded.
What’s impressed about Radcliffe has been his refusal to be typecast following a decade playing author Jk Rowling’s much celebrated child wizard in the ‘Harry Potter’ adaptations. Having already performed in Broadway between 2007 and 2009 in the play ‘Equus’, Radcliffe returned to the stage this year in the adaptation of the Shephard Mead book ‘How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying’ and has earned rave reviews.
Speaking to Mtv, Radcliffe couldn’t contain his satisfaction at how his 2011 had gone. “It’s been a great first year away from ‘Potter,’” he enthused. “It’s been very successful. I’ve done some work I’m really proud of in that time, particularly onstage in ‘How to Succeed.’ Just the process of doing it and doing it and doing it, I’ve got so much better, I think, during the run, as is the way it should be.” However he’s already got his eye on next year, particularly with his next film ‘Woman In Black’ due out, “I think, and if [2011] is not a breakout year, it’s a breakaway year” he stated.
