I plan to set up workspace for telecommuters in my neighborhood that
provides some of the social aspects of a work environment, as well as
plenty of practical and technical support.
Here's what gave me the idea:
I once worked for a company that couldn't afford to keep renting the
office they occupied. To raise some cash we rented a spare desk to a
telecommuter who came in simply because she wanted an excuse to get
out of the house. It was a very lively office environment and I often
thought she must find us unbearable to have around. Eventually we all
had to move out. To my surprise she was really upset; we can't have
been such a bad bunch after all!
I'm really interested to know what members of the forum think about
the idea of a telecommuter business centre. What industries are you
from and would you consider using a center like this?
