There's a very good case to be made for getting in early and selling the kit
to the rest of the world as they wake up to the problem and see how much
they save by addressing it.

On the contrary, we -know- the greenhouse effect is real, see Venus. Even
if you choose to doubt it's causality in the current Earth Climate issue
acquiring control of CO2 (and like gasses) then gives us a lever with which
to influence climate in whichever direction required. Should man-made CO2
not be the cause (though I think it is) we buy ourselves time and a tool to
address whatever does turn out to be the true cause.

It's not so much insulation as absorption of infra red. This goes back to
Fourier nearly 200 years ago. Arrhenius (sp?) compared the Moon's
reflection with Direct Sun-Earth light and got a rough measurement - before
WW1. Search for 'Carbon Dioxide Near Infrared Absorption' and you'll find
loads of quantative stuff.

Sunspot cycle is too short, at 11 years it's little more than noise at the
timescales we're measuring. There was only ever one serious paper
suggesting a link and although it has largely been disproved as a long term
effect it did partially correlate to a much shorter period variation - that
said the current solar cycle is a little odd, it might have a double-peak or
some such.

A huge effect is in deep water currents caused by extra heavy, extra salty
water sinking beneath forming sea-ice. Melting of the polar ice is removing
the power source for the deep water counter current to the North Atlantic
drift & the Gulf Stream.

AIui the CO2 fraction as measured in deep Antarctic ice-bubbles suggests
the current levels are way higher than anything during and for some time
before the recent ice-ages.
Atm the atmosphere temperature seems to be being buffered by the oceans -
but that's just storing up trouble for later.
