Hi,
I am a student studying computing at university. Although it is not part of
our course I'd like to write a simple program in c/c++ that records when
there is an input from the serial / parallel / joystick port. If you can
help me please let me know. I'd also be grateful if someone could suggest a
newsgroup for info / help on C programs as all I can find is C++ stuff.

Thanks in advance people

Believe it or not news:comp.lang.c is a C newsgroup.

But I don't think serial / parallel / joystick ports are part of either
C or C++, you need a hardware programming group.

Hardware interaction is not defined by either language. You need
to go to your platform newsgroup. Try comp.os.<your_os>.programmer
where <your_os> is your OS, like msdos or ms-windows...
