Hi

This TeX Hour is about improved regression tests for TeX and LaTeX. They are a good thing. They check that changed software still performs as expected after a change. It is a very important part of test automation.

And when there are enough automated tests, it becomes much easier to refactor style files to provide improved implementation and additional functionality. And to do this without unknowingly changing the typesetting of existing documents.

The TeX Hour is Thursday 2 March 6:30 to 7:30pm GMT. For more information (and afterwards the video recording) see https://texhour.github.io/2023/03/02/regress-test-unlatex/.

Hi

The texbox is a key component of unlatex, which will go from texboxes to source documents and typesetting macros.

Last week Dan Miner and myself came up with the idea of going directly from the texbox (that latex ships out) to the Access Tree that screen readers use. Why should the Access Tree be tied to the PDF form of the document?  Thank you so much for that, Dan.

The TeX Hour is Thursday 9 March 6:30 to 7:30pm GMT. For more information (and afterwards the video recording) see https://texhour.github.io/2023/03/09/unlatex-texbox-access-tree/

Prior to the TeX Hour, examples and code will be available at https://github.com/arxtex/unlatex

with kind regards

Jonathan
