Hi

This Thursday 19 January, 6:30 to 8:30pm GMT, there'll be a special online meeting on STEM accessibility, from author to reader. It is a double length meeting because we have three special guest speakers Jason White, Jonathan Godfrey and Patrick Smyth, all having expert knowledge and experience both personal and professional. There'll be ample time for questions and discussion afterwards.

Further details (and afterwards the video recording) are at https://texhour.github.io/2023/01/19/stem-access-author-reader/.

The Zoom URL is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/78551255396?pwd=cHdJN0pTTXRlRCtSd1lCTHpuWmNIUT09.

In case you haven't already heard, last month the arXiv preprint service published its framework for improved accessibility to the research papers it hosts. This is very important for STEM access.

Earlier this month the American Mathematical Society (AMS) published an article (in PDF)
Making Accessible Documents Using LaTeX by Eric Larson and Isabel Vogt

Finally TALMO (Teaching and Learning Mathematics Online) has an online talk on Creating accessible online mathematics and statistics notes. This will be on 1 March. The organisers are Jenny Hughes and Peter Rowlett. When available more information will appear at http://talmo.uk/events.html

Do share this with others if you wish.

with best wishes

Jonathan
