Hi,

We have been trying to build upon Matthew's Venn diagram.

See the attached Powerpoint for an early draft. We would appreciate any comments.

We reckon that it would be good to break the visualisation down to the Framework stages.
In the first stage, we include all the TLOs and show the 'General' breakdown.

Then for vertical and horizontal, we plan to look at the high (heavy-weight) ontological TLOs (as Matthew did in his Venn diagram. Thanks to him for imaginative ideas on how to do this.

For now, we have just done the general (first stage) analysis.

The Venn-like diagram - slide 1 gives you a feel for the TLO breakdown.
The pie charts - slide 2 - give you a better feel for the breakdown ratios. It is interesting that there are almost as many high as low TLOs - though that is probably a factor of our inclusion policies (as we favour high TLOs).

In the next stage, we will try to visualise the vertical/horizontal results.

Regards,
Chris Partridge

Dear Chris,

I’ve reworked the Venn diagram to try to make it clearer what the differences are between the Heavyweight Ontological TLOs.

One thing this brings out is the distinction you make as to whether TLOs are lightweight or heavyweight. I found it difficult, looking at the text, to see how I would judge a TLO to be one or the other, or where the line would be drawn. Could you add something about that please?

Regards

Matthew West
