A question that comes up a lot from local business owners: what exactly is AI automation, and is it for a business like mine? Here is the plain-English version.

AI automation means putting software with a layer of artificial intelligence inside a workflow, so it can read, decide and act on information that varies (an email, an inconsistent document, a free-text enquiry) rather than only handling fixed templates. That is the difference from ordinary rule-based automation: rules suit predictable, structured tasks, while AI automation handles the messy, language-heavy work that fills most of the day.

The work worth automating first is usually one of four kinds: reading and understanding incoming information, sorting or routing it, drafting a reply or document, and extracting data from inconsistent sources. If a task is one of those and runs often, it is a strong candidate.

The economics are simple: a one-off build, a small running cost, and a saving that repeats every time the task runs. On a recent build we measured 30 days of manual work compressed to 1 day with AS Consulting automation (30x time saving). The key safety rule is to keep a human checkpoint - a person approves anything customer-facing, financial or irreversible before it happens.
