Hi everyone!

EMF is almost upon us, and we're making the final preparations to getting all of the streaming infrastructure up and running.

Now, people who have generously donated the use of kit - there are two options.

You can drop the kit off at London hack space some time before the event.  Drrk has donated the use of his member box for small items, and there will be another area dedicated for EMF stuff for the larger bits.  Make sure it's labelled well!

OR

You can drop the items off at EMF when you arrive.  I'm going to be there from Thursday setting up, so any time after then would be ideal.  EMFM is going to be in a tent near the venues - just so you know.  We will have a couple of tables and chairs there ready to go.

If for some reason you can't do either of these, we can come up with a special arrangement that suits.  However the above two are best if at all possible.

Ideally, we want to have the core kit set up by Friday afternoon when the talks start proper.

Hi people,

Sorry I'm late in on this.
If there's anything people still need for EMFM / EMFTV, please yelp. I have a whole student TV station dismantled for a rebuild over summer, so it's more than likely that I have what you need, and definitely all going spare. Cables (short, to hundreds of meters), mics, compressors, audio mixers (between 8 and 32 channels), vision mixers, video routers (all video is composite, but mainly ex-BBC kit, so decent)... If anyone is passing York, then we can bring in the bigger stuff...

So yeah, name a thing, and if we can get it down, you can have it for the weekend.

Mike.

Wow.  Wish I'd known about you sooner!

Right, lets see.

What'd be nice is:

 * a number of long 25m ish mic cables
 * some compressors! (say, 4 channels worth split between two stages)
 * got any radio mics?
 * decent quality DV cameras are always good to have.  The more, the better!

If any of those things you can help us out with that'd be amazing.  If you could pop them on the wiki with details:

That'd be totally awesome.  I'd quite like to be in the position where we can actually make a real TV stream, with roaming reporter perhaps.  But at present I don't think we've got enough cameras and stuff to do that and set up a radio studio.

Also, I'd really appreciate the help over the weekend getting it all up and running :-)

Cheers!

Mike.

Would a 25M multicore be of any use? 16 channel one way, 4 the other, all on XLRs.

Hmm.... that depends on what's been sorted for the venues already.  I imagine that'd be perfect for a PA or somesuch, but I don't know what's going on with that just now.

Will have to get back to you on that!

Right, I'd be tempted to say - bring it anyway, if it's feasible to do so, and if we don't have a need for it at a stage, it could well be useful in the radio studio.

Hearty thanks!

For which I already have one as well :) By the looks of it we will have way too
much gear ..

Anyway, bit confused atm who is doing what. I have a full radio studio in a box
(well actually 3 boxes) with mics, mixing desks and streaming setup that I will
bring anyway. Also has voip in/out and a mobile reporter kit. All audio only, no
video..

- gmc

Aha! Didn't know that ...

You raise a good point!

Right, so as far as I'm concerned, we've got two main areas of activity - the video streaming of talks, and the radio studio.

gmc - as we discussed many a moon ago, that is fabulous, and essentially does us just fine for the radio studio side of things.  Really appreciate it!  I'm very confident that side of things will be easily sorted out.

My plan is to go through the list of kit, and let the people who have offered the kit know whether it will be required - as you're right, there's rather a lot of it!

However, we've since evolved a bit more and we (as a team) now are going to be managing the video streaming of the stages too as well as the radio studios.  Also, it's quite possible we'll cross over the the AV people a bit as and when they/we need help for that side of things.

Hope that clears things up a bit?
