Hello,

I work at the Greater London Authority. We would like to put up organisation chart information on the London Datastore along the same lines as data.gov.uk:

Can anyone help by letting me know how these organisation charts are implemented and what we would have to do to achieve something similar.

Thanks,
Graham Lane

Graham,

I know this is an old request, but I asked around about this at
Cabinet Office and have finally been pointed at the code for the
Organograms as used on data.gov.uk.
There's this:
http://code.google.com/p/linked-data-api/source/browse/#svn%2Fbranches%2Forganogram-2011-03-31%2Fexamples%2Fvisualisations%2Fgov-structure%2Forganogram
And this looks like a more recent version (actually linked from the
'About' box on the webapp):
http://code.google.com/p/puelia-php/source/list

It's called Puelia and being developed by TSO. The data is stored in a
triple store (accessible at reference.data.gov.uk), so extracted by
the front-end with SPARQL queries in the application's PHP.

It would be great if you can reuse it on the London Datastore because
it is all open source and a really nice tool. But obviously it is not
well-advertised so far...

Minor correction: Puelia was developed by myself and colleagues (while
at Talis) and Jeni Tennison; TSO have a different implementation
called TLDA[1], which is written in Java; Epimorphics also have a Java
implementation called Elda[2]. Any of these three should be
functionally equivalent for creating Linked Data Apis[3]. The
LDA-Discuss mailing list[4] is a good place to ask questions or for
help with the Linked Data API specification or with using any of the
implementations.
