Dear All

I just wondered whether there was an easy way to send an email on
behalf of a client from my own email account. I know this does not
make immediate sense!

I want the person reading and receiving the email to think the email
is from the client and not from me phil...@essentialpa.co.uk. I
don't think it's possible without sorting out servers etc. or buying
into different software. I will check with my web hosting company.

Any bright ideas very welcome.

Thank you all.

Hi Phillipa

I use Constant Contact for sending out my newsletters. I've also used my
account for sending out a bulk email on behalf of a client simply by
changing the sender's name and email address. It does cost you each month
but because I'm using it anyway it doesn't really matter.

Hope this helps.

Hi Phillippa

It is quite easy. Instructions for using Outlook:

Go to Tools, Email Accounts, View or change existing.

Highlight the email address you wish to use (if you have more than one),
then click Change.

Alter the User Information to read your client's name and email address.
(Do not alter Logon Information or Server Information)

Click on More Settings, and alter the reply address to your client's email
address. Click OK, then next, which finishes the changes.

Any emails you send from your address will now look as if they have been
sent by your client, and any replies will go to your client's address.

I have used this to send out emails on behalf of a client many times. The
key thing to remember is to change it back to your own info when you've
finished, otherwise you will confuse matters!

Regards

Keely

Dear Angela

I feel awful about this. I saw an email from Justine in answer to my
original question but did not go back to this site to check for other
information. Thank you for the note about Constant Contact. I like
the idea of using Constant Contact but would prefer to be able to use
Outlook if at all possible. We shall see. I will investigate the
cost of Constant Contact further.

Best wishes

Hi All,

Hope all is well with you and your businesses.

I have been keeping an eye on your emails on various subject, which have proved both useful and in some cases, quite entertaining.  Now, I am finally taking the 'scary' plunge and am in the process of setting up my business, based in London.

I do, however, have a few niggly questions that I would be truly grateful if you could provide me with some tips and recommendations:

1)   Professional Indemnity Insurance - any recommended supplier ?

2)   Business Equipment Insurance - any recommended supplier ?

3)   Communications - I would like a service that provides a mobile no and business number (020, 0800, 0870 etc) - any recommended supplier?

4)    Is it better to offer a tiered fee system i.e. a range of prices depending on the task or does that complicate things?  Should I just charge everyone one fee per hour for all tasks?

5)   Diary Management Software: Will Outlook do for more than one client or should I be looking to invest in something more robust, that is accessible to each individual online?

6)   Online Dictation Service: What service allows me to receive dictation via email ?

Sorry for so many questions in one email, but thought I would just get it all out there.  Simply choose the one you want to / are able to answer.

Thanking you in advance for your assistance.

Kind Regards

Hi Ruth-Anne

Firstly congratulations for taking the plunge; I wish you success!

Will reply to your questions adjacent to them.

1)   Professional Indemnity Insurance - any recommended supplier ? I don’t have need for Professional Indemnity Insurance, but may be worth you going under your own business insurance; I myself use a specific working from home bus ins through AG Bennett & Moore brokers via AXA. www.benmor.co.uk

2)   Business Equipment Insurance - any recommended supplier ? Covered under the above. I pay £236/year over 12 months and covers me for Business Contents £10,000, Employers Liability (even though I don’t employ) £10,000,000 and Public Liability £2,000,000, Legal Expenses, Gross Profit (Imdenity Period 12 months), Amounts Receivable etc.

3)   Communications - I would like a service that provides a mobile no and business number (020, 0800, 0870 etc) - any recommended supplier?

I would recommend 4tel who sell you numbers for c. £10.00, plus VAT. I have 4 0845 numbers with them and they are directed to your usual number and you can then use the original number and the new number; it makes no difference to callers. http://www.4telgroup.com/

4)    Is it better to offer a tiered fee system i.e. a range of prices depending on the task or does that complicate things?  Should I just charge everyone one fee per hour for all tasks?

I wholly agree on tiering charges dependent on who they are for and what they are for and I generally charge per the hour unless sundry services.

5)   Diary Management Software: Will Outlook do for more than one client or should I be looking to invest in something more robust, that is accessible to each individual online? Try this brand new system just out; I am really going to think about doing this myself. www.icomplete.com

6)   Online Dictation Service: What service allows me to receive dictation via email ?

Best one to use would be www.sendthisfile.com; you can join and get HTML code to upload to your website like I have done here. http://www.tmwsecretarial.com/page8.php

Hi Tamara and all

Icomplete.com are becoming very popular now; I have co-branded landing pages for TMWSecretarial, Tesla Typing and now VA-Directory.Com.... all with free trials.

Good on them I say... as they’ve not long been awarded contracts with Dell and The Princes Trust.

Hi Ruth,

I would highly recommend that you invest in Professional Indemnity
Insurnace. We have an exciting announcement coming soon at the UKAVA
as we are teaming up with the only insurnace company in the UK
offering tailored virtual assistant packages. They will be offering
discounts to all UKAVA members. I'll keep you posted.

Best regards,

Justine

Hello Everyone

A strange question perhaps, but I have been asked by a client if I knew of any VA's (or any other companies - large or small) who offered a Utilities Cost Review for their clients.

Now I know that there are the online portals such as Uswitch, Confused, Engergyhelpline.com and whichSwitch.co.uk which might offer the answers... but does anyone know of a company which is not an online portal, that offers this sort of service?  The services we are looking for are along these lines :
  • A review of current utilities
  • Recommendation on savings
  • Do they cover mobile phones, insurance, etc?
  • How do they collate the most time consuming part - the gathering of information on current accounts in order to be able to generate the comparison
Any help ladies?  Pleeeeese.... :¬)

Regards
Nicole Sterley
