Pricing Audio Transcription

Hi All
I am currently looking into adding Audio Transcription to my services
but was wondering how to go about pricing the service? Any advice
please?

Hi Lee

 

A number of organisations charge per dictated minute. The range is between 45p - £1.05p. You can charge per hour! However, if you want to charge per line, I know that Dict8 charge 4p per line.  If you follow that route take a look at www.CountLines.com  - it's an excellent piece of software which counts the lines and generates invoices for you at the same time. It's reasonably priced and no, I am not getting commission for telling you this. I have used it.

You might also consider re-outsourcing your audio transciption projects to me,

for 20p per audio minute. I will give you an equally good transcript, you'll only

probably have to go through it once, just to make sure everything is fine.

Don't under rate your time and effort spent on transcription.  20p per audio minute is way too cheap - Think about it, for 1 hour of recording which would take on average about 4 hours to transcribe (not counting the checking of the transcription afterwards), and this would be if the recording was a good one with just one or perhaps 2 speakers - you would be getting a grand total of £12 for 4 or 5 hours work!

 

That is way way less than the minimum wage!
