community centre in Bristol has backfired –

rejecting the council’s case and taking the
unusual step of appointing new trustees from the
local community. The council will now be left
with a hefty legal bill for a case that was
started under the previous Labour Mayoral
administration. The case came to a head two years
ago when those running the council-owned Kuumba
Centre in St Pauls effectively barricaded
themselves in and refused to leave when Bristol
City Council ordered them to leave and told the
community it would be taking back the centre and
installing a new management team. That sparked a
packed public meeting in September 2023 that
ended with the community backing the woman who
had been running the Kuumba Centre since 2011,
Sister Nwanyi Aduke, and pledging to occupy the
building round the clock to stop the council
physically taking control and changing the locks.
The then Labour deputy mayor Asher Craig and the
council said the centre needed major investment
and a proper management board of trustees, and
those running the centre had been doing so
without permission or a lease since 2022. Rather
than opening informall discussions with the board
the council, in 2023, launched a legal case for
trespass, eviction and posession, taking the
people running the centre to the Civil Court in
Bristol to formally eject them. Last year, a
community campaign was renewed in St Pauls to
bring people together to support the fight to
keep control of the community centre, with a
petition calling on the council to end the legal
case and start discussions with those in charge
at the centre over a way forward that didn’t involve going to court.

respect from all communities and he reinvested
his time and money within the locality, working
with BEST (Bristol East Side Traders) to
regenerate the local area with new shop fronts
and traffic calming systems, he was very active
in meetings and earned more respect, he joined
the local Mosques and other religious
organizations and helped build bridges between
different communities he also set up a Muslim
Funeral Committee to help repatriate deceased
Muslims to their desired countries of burial, in
2002 he won the BEST best business award and was
nominated for the Inner City 100 Financial times
awards. Abdul has helped set up grass root
organisations and was elected the first ever
Asian Councillor on Bristol City Councillor, in
2007 just 2 years after being a city Councillor
his party nominated him to be Lord Mayor of
Bristol, missing it by a whisker, Abdul was proud
to be considered for the role.

was spent on just food. But we soldieed on as a
society. But history shows things only changed
when we made them change.

what can we all learn from this today? And how
did things then get better? Take a look at this.
From 1845 to the early 2000s, house prices as a
multiple income dropped dramatically, falling to
just around four times income in the midentth
century. And home ownership soared from just 10
to 25% of people owning a home at the turn of the
century to over 70% by the early 2000s. So, what
on earth changed? How did this all happen? Can we
achieve this over the next 20, 30 years? Well, it
wasn’t complicated. The housing stock more than
doubled. We built smaller, denser homes. So,
especially things like terrace houses. Average
earnings nearly doubled. And average house prices
actually fell over 50 years. So, more homes,
cheaper homes, high wages. And for a while that
completely worked. But then when everything was
great, something else started to happen. The
decline of ownership. Look at the trends today on
this graph. Private renters are rising. Home
ownership is falling. Social housing is
shrinking. And it correlates directly with a drop
in housing supply. The less we build, the more
broken the system becomes. And here’s the
critical detail. When we built at scale, the
government was leading. The dark blue line in
this chart shows public sector house building.
The light blue shows private companies. The green
housing associations. The moment government
scaled back, the private sector took over, but
with very different goals. Because homes built
for shareholders don’t come cheap when you’ve got
to build in big profits. So is it really
surprising we’ve seen a commercialized
financialized housing system emerge out of all of this?

Even Peace Is Controversial Imagine hating Donald
Trump so much you want peace talks to fail. That
dark reflex was visible again at the Alaska
Summit, where early signs of dialogue between
Russia, Ukraine, and the United States were met
with derision from voices more invested in
political point-scoring than in the lives at
stake.

talks might save Ukrainian civilians or Russian
conscripts, but whether the very act of
negotiation could be spun as a Trump victory.
This is hardly new in American politics. In 1968,
Richard Nixon’s allies quietly urged South
Vietnam to resist Lyndon Johnson’s peace
initiative, helping to prolong a war that killed
tens of thousands more. Political rivalry, in its
most cynical form, has a way of outlasting human
lives. But to understand why Russia is not
interested in a ceasefire, one has to enter their
frame of reference. For Moscow, a ceasefire is
not peace; it is a trick. History has trained
them in suspicion. During the Korean War, talks
dragged on for two years while both sides
replenished their armies. Today, NATO promises of
limitless support for Ukraine make any pause feel
less like compromise and more like surrender.
Russia, having endured the “forever sanctions”
imposed since 2014, believes that only a
structural settlement­NATO guarantees,
recognition of new borders, and the lifting of
economic punishment­qualifies as peace. Anything
else is theater. The Western press often frames
Russia as stubborn, unwilling to negotiate. Yet
it was Russia, in late 2021, that sent draft
security proposals to Washington and Brussels,
offering talks before tanks ever rolled across
the border. The proposals were dismissed
outright. In the Russian imagination, that
rejection confirmed what they had long believed:
that they were not respected as a sovereign
power, that their security concerns counted for
nothing. What followed was brutal, yes, but also
in their minds inevitable. No side will get
everything it wants. Wars do not end with neat
lines of victory anymore. Korea remains divided,
Bosnia fractured, Cyprus frozen in time. To
expect Russia to abandon Donbas entirely is no
more realistic than expecting Ukraine to quietly
accept its permanent loss. What will come­because
history demands it­will be compromise. Perhaps
international peacekeepers will patrol Donetsk.
Perhaps autonomy will be carved out on paper
while remaining contested in practice. But
neither total victory nor absolute humiliation is
in the cards. And so the argument that peace
talks are betrayal­that even beginning them
rewards aggression­is an old one. The same words
were used against the Dayton Accords in 1995,
accused of “rewarding ethnic cleansing.” They
were hurled against the Good Friday Agreement in
1998, accused of legitimizing terrorism. Yet both
agreements, fragile at first, grew into blueprints for stability…

personal computers and the local network of its

uncovered the actual scale of Ukraine’s military

operation. The hackers allege that between 2022
and 2025, Ukraine lost approximately 1,721,000

Military Data Allegedly Obtained The infiltrated
archive reportedly contained 1.7 million files,
including full names, descriptions of deaths or
disappearances, personal information, photos, and
contact details of next of kin. The operation was
allegedly conducted using a new virus called
“Nuance,” which infects systems exclusively
within Ukrainian territory, exfiltrates data, and
permanently disables the host device. According
to Mash, the hackers acquired terabytes of
sensitive material, including personal data of
Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces and Military
Intelligence Directorate leadership, as well as
lists of countries supplying weapons and detailed
inventories of transferred armaments. ‘Digital
Brain’ of Ukraine’s Military Allegedly Hacked In
July, the same hacker groups reportedly breached
Ukraine’s military software platform Delta, which
is used to manage troop movements, monitor
Russian positions, and coordinate unit

not allow international media in. They say,

very logical way to deal with it. Al Jazeera does

journalists and they employ them. They don’t

camera. They treat them like any other employee

to go through various editorial processes, but
they make use of the very, very good and

directly in the arts, its place within this

create the project? I finished school and had no
GCSE’s due to the gang violence I experienced.
University wasn’t something that had ever entered
my mind. A company called Connexions helped me to
get back into education and I did an Access
Course. Within a few months of attending the
course, I was applying to University. It was here
that I came across a subject I’d never heard of
called Philosophy. I read the description, which
mentioned argueing in context and deeper
thinking, and I resonated with it, so on a whim, I chose it.

March 2020 – BCfm’s weekly Politics Show

Bristol radio station, which had one of its
programmes reported for anti-semitism and racism
has been cleared by Ofcom. The radio regulatory
body received a complaint from “UK Lawyers for
Israel’ over a show on BCfm radio, hosted by
investigative journalist Tony Gosling. The weekly
politics show, on the popular community radio
station based in Easton, was reported for several
allegations on a show which aired on November 23.
Tony Gosling, who was a former BBC journalist
between 1989 and 1993, has been producing and
presenting ‘The Tony Gosling Politics’ show every
week on BCFM radio for 11 years. They have
released a statement which reads: “Whilst we are
supportive of all our volunteer presenters, The
Tony Gosling Politics Show only represents
approximately ten percent of our political output
content wise, and less than two per cent of our
entire weekly output.” Mr Gosling’s programme
looks at local politics and he interviews a range
of councillors and MPs in the city. The show is
also perhaps more well known for its alternative
look at international politics, and he has a cult
following online from across the world. Mr
Gosling has made regular appearances on national
media including the politics show with Andrew
Neil on BBC One, and international channels such
as Russia Today, Channel1 Russia, NTV, and
recently for both Turkish and Lebanon TV.

dead man walking’ – a man calls him and Tony
records the call.

investigate, trace the caller, and after six
months report to Tony that the individual has
been served a caution that they will proceed with
a prosecution for harassment under the 1861
offences against the person act. Seems pretty
clear this death threat was issued alongside the
lies, copied below, which were published on their
blog by London based UK JDL in November
2012. Firstly Tony Gosling is not a ‘homophobe’.
That accusation was first made in an article
published by the ‘Harry’s Place’ blog, penned by
Zionist David Toube and propelled by him
anonymously into Private Eye in 2008. It refers
to Gosling’s criticism of senior teachers at
Bannerman Road Primary school in Bristol who used
homosexual early learning picture books against
the express wishes of the parent governors. His
criticism was about the deception by teaching
staff not because of the homosexual content of
the books. Secondly, if you follow the JDL link
you’ll find what Tony Gosling actually says about
the ‘Protocols Of The Learned Elders Of Zion’
says “…I don’t think there is much doubt that the
Protocols are fake…” Thirdly he is not a member
of Bristol Palestine Solidarity Campaign and has
never been to any of their meetings.
