Herewith an update:

 

Main power: Joburg City Power

·         APK Campus is fed from two independent ring-main circuits.  After the initial power-dip, a fault was “flagged” in both circuits.  Indicating that there is likely to be a cable fault.

·         We do not have the resources in-house  to test the cables nor to restore (switch-in) the main 11Kv breakers.  A company from Pretoria, Unitest is used for this on a contract basis.  Their technician is on site and work is in progress.

·         We are hoping that the cables are ok and that it was only the breakers that dis-engaged.

·         Time frame: It is anticipated that in the next 1 hour we will know the status/extremity of the problem.

 

Generator Power

·         All the generators are operating, excepting the one supplying power to Core 4, namely C-Lab and parts of D-Lab.

·         The thermostat of this particular unit is faulty.  It is in the process of being replaced.  This particular generator was tested last week and was found to be in order.

·         Expected time-frame: Should there be no further problems, this generator should be operational in about 1.5 hours.

We experienced a power dip at both APB and APK campuses, approximately 20 min ago.

The power has been restored at APB, however not at APK.  On APK we running on generator power.
