Hey Ho it's .... ... Sunday;
Go to Gaol, go directly to gaol, do not pass go, do not collect
£200.
Well this week has been all about justice, or the administration of
justice anyway. It seems as if case after case has been pushed into the
headlines, a child killer, a man who caused an accident, some chaps who
went plane spotting and lastly a thug and a liar.
Roy Whiting killed Sarah Payne, he had offended before and been let
out of prison in a very short period of time. His defence lawyers poured
doubt on the forensics used to prove his guilt even though they knew his
past. He was sent to gaol with a recommendation it be for the rest of
his life.
Gary Hart was judged by a majority of the jury to have caused the
deaths of ten people, this Christmas time he awaits sentencing and was
told he could expect to go to gaol for a long time.
A group of men and a lady, who had arranged with our EU partners
Greece to enjoy their hobby were arrested and accused of spying. They
were thrown into a primitive gaol and for weeks were subject to an
unbelievable array of charges by a government clearly out of step with
the rest of Europe. Even their bail was fraught with difficulties
because the authorities didn't trust their British counterparts.
Bowyer and Woodgate, icons of footballing prowess were found guilty.
One of causing an affray the other of lying to escape justice. Neither
will go to gaol, these overpaid bullies and braggarts get a slap on the
wrist.
Go to Gaol, go directly to gaol, do not pass go, do not collect £200
is my considered verdict on these two who used a young man as a
football.
Enough of that, let us talk of many things, 'of shoes and seas and
sealing wax and cabbages and kings Of why the se is boiling hot and
whether pigs have wings.'
I am sitting surrounded by parcels, some will be going to the post
office soon for distant family and friends. Others will be handed out to
visitors and children who wave as they go to school passing my window.
There's a pile for a couple of parties, I'll put on my special suit to
deliver those and more for all my family and friends. Big fluffy toys
for children and ornamental toys for growed ups, wine and whisky for
boozers and a squeaky parcel that Mac is sending his friend Caspar.
Some toys needed batteries and £20 worth of those will power gadgets,
the bags and wrapping paper cost about the same. A month ago Santa's
helpers at the Post office took Canadian and Australian bound packages
to get there for the big occasion. In eight short days Father Christmas
will journey around the world.
Piles of cards to put up with decorations that twinkle and trees that
bow down under the weight of shiny baubles surrounded by gaudy wrapped
boxes and bags.
On my door a wreath of red berried holly and a Santa that chuckles as
you pass. Ho Ho Ho is plentiful, bottles of port and boxes of mince pies
to fill the tummy of visitors.

Oh a Santa helpers job is never done, it's breakfast for Mac and I and
then walkies on a mild morning.

Got to go.
