Hey Ho it's ... ... Sunday;
Just a few minutes and I'm on my way to see our new granddaughter
Stacey, I can't tell you how lovely she was when we spoke last Sunday.
She told me her hair was shorter than in the photographs I have and that
she would know who I was by the beard.
I have some sweeties to give her when I get there, will a gross of
Cadburys Buttons be enough do you think? I'll only give them one at a
time though. Mac says he likes them too but they're not good for
doggies. I'd better keep them a secret from Pam, she likes chocolate too
much. ;-)
It's Christopher's party, he's ten and there's a trip to a basketball
game after tea. It's in London so I'd better get this finished or I'll
be late. ;-(
That's not all though about families, some of us have family fun but
others have tragedy where the family is split up and the pig in the
middle is a child.Police fear a man holding his toddler son hostage on a
motorway may have a gun.
Officers have surrounded a motor caravan parked on the hard shoulder
of the M4.
The siege is causing traffic chaos, with tailbacks up to 10
miles. A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police has confirmed officers
have seen the man with what "appeared to be a gun".
A spokesman said: "A weapon was produced and officers withdrew so as
not to exacerbate the situation or put the child in danger. The man made
off with his two-and-a-half-year-old son and appeared to be in
possession of what looked like a gun."
Now the poor chap, who has a problem with custody, isn't doing this
for anything but love, the unreasoning love that binds families
together. It will I fear all end in tears
Not so our family get together on Tuesday, I went with the old stagers
for a meal to our favourite restraint. Grannie Annie said to do it when
I got back from the long holiday and before I set off again. Much was
discussed, from Molly setting off for France this weekend to Iris
plotting a Spanish holiday in November. We made our group phone call to
Mavis in South Wales in between courses an invigorating episode. Fish
and chips for me with 'Yorkshire caviar' while the exhaustive menu was
explored in it's complexity.
So you are all having the same as last time you came quipped the
waitress who had recognised the gang. I suppose we did and will do again
when we celebrate Ruth and Bills 80th birthdays there in three weeks
time
Mac gets a doggy bag when we leave, as we always clean our plates it
must be something the waitress finds in the kitchens, a bone or three
and lots of carved meat. He's a charmer.

They are introducing Euros at the end of the year, we who have
weathered decimalisation will understand that it will be used to rip us
off in some way. I still can't understand how one of those skoddy little
pennies can equal two and a half of the big things I got for pocket
money as a child. Never mind they're easier on the pocket.

Got to fly, 200 miles to go and a new favourite grandchild will be
there, which one you ask? Well they all are.
Now where are the car keys, oh I'd better pop some jim jams in a bag
and a toothbrush.

See you next week
