Hi there my silversurfing friends;

Just been watching the snowflakes drifting by my window, soft and
lovely. I always liked the soapflakes my mam used for washing her
woollies they smelled of homely comfort and told of care.
Now I have to confess I don't use anything but the tablets casually
placed in the washing machine and the dial rotated to setting 'F'. No
gentle possing of the soiled garments or local rubbing to gently ease
out the stains before rinsing and squeezing by hand. Haven't times
changed.
Mam had an 'Ada' washer, with a mangle that went over the tub, she had
it for years and it soldiered faithfully on through into the 1960s and
1970s. It replaced the setpot boiler and peggy tub of the 40s with the
rubbing board and hand mangle in the washkitchen building down the yard.
The washing dried on the line or in the kitchen on a rack according to
the weather. Today it's spun and dried in minutes.

Then there's the vacuuming, so much easier with the Dyson. Mum had an
ancient Goblin cylinder cleaner, how I remember the green body and
silvered fittings the bag that needed regular washing outs and the well
worn metal mouthpieces kept in the original 1930s box. Todays cleaner
sucks into a visible container you can see just how dirty the house was
before you switched on ;-)

All in all the improvements are great, look how much time they save. It
gives us time to relax ! This morning I watched Kilroy, well I needed a
laugh. It was about older people and sex. Apparently we all need to talk
about it to confess our lack or surfeit of it in front of millions of
viewers. I didn't recognise any of my silversurfing friends, perhaps we
get our flirting done and sort out our love life on line. I have met so
many couples who are happy in the bonds of matrimony, so many singles
who are satisfied with their lives on the internet. Seeing some in the
flesh shows how skilled we all are with words.

Got to go, the black beastie is nudging my arm.
