The Center for Graphic Technologies is a major UIUC Art and Design
environment/facility where innovative faculty, students, and staff are
involved in a wide range of creative and educational activities that
include: (1) graduate and undergraduate digital imaging courses, (2)
artists on the Internet, (3) international electronic gallery
exhibitions, (4) web page design, (5) a variety of multimedia experiments
and experiences, and (6) interpersonal contact with all Art and Design
personnel as well as other University staff.
The Network Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the
Center for Graphic Technologies. The candidate must have a Bachelor's
degree and experience with both DOS IBM compatible, Novel Netware, and
Macintosh personal computers. Salary is commensuraate with experience
and qualifications.
The Network Analyst, reporting to the Director of the Center for Graphic
Technologies (CGT), is responsible for:
-Research, specification, ordering, and installing computer hardware and
software for faculty and staff of the School of Art and Design, as well
as for the CGT student computer labs.
-Administering Macintosh, IBM PC, Unix (World Wide Web), and Novel
Netware Systems, including the installation and maintenance of hardware
and software, servicing user requests, performing basic repairs, and
coordinating with outside facilities for the repair of equipment.
-Administering a TCP/IP + IPX + AppleTalk LAN in the Art and Design
Building, including installation of network cards, setting up client
network software, administering IP addresses, and working with campus
networking officials to integrate the Art and Design LNn with the
campus-wide UIUCnet.
-Manaaging the financial resources of the CGT in conjunction with the
Director and the Art and Design Business Office, including billing for
facilities used (e.g., computer lab fees, sale items, etc.), fulfilling
purchase requests for users of the CGT, and keeping financial books.
-Managing a staff of several full- and part-time professional employees,
as well as graduate and undergraduate students. This includes hiring,
evaluating, training, and scheduling and assigning work tasks to these
employees.
