Anti-Android Network Toolkit Deftly Monitors Your Networks

Anti-Android Network Toolkit is an app that uses Wi-Fi scanning
tools to scan networks. You can scan a network you have the
phone connected to or you can scan any other nearby open
networks. Security admins can use Anti to test network host
vulnerabilities to DoS attacks and other threats.

The Best Antivirus for 2012

New model-year security products used to come out in the fall,
like new model-year cars. This year the first 2012 antivirus (G
Data AntiVirus 2012 ($29.95 direct, 3.5 stars)) turned up way
back in May. So far PCMag has reviewed nine antivirus tools
explicitly identified as 2012 models, along with several others
released during the same period. Which of these recent releases
is the best?

Six Ways to Protect Yourself from Duqu

Security blog Dark Reading features a post today by Kelly
Jackson Higgins called "Five Things To Do To Defend Against
Duqu." Some of the suggestions make more sense than others.
PCMag.com Lead Security Analyst Neil Rubenking adds a sixth
rather important suggestion.

GFI VIPRE Internet Security 2012 Is Good, But Could Be Better

VIPRE's spam filter is the best around, but its antivirus
protection is average and it can't seem to remove rootkits. Its
firewall avoids bombarding the user with popups simply by not
enabling protection that might cause popups. Its performance
drag is small, and the 10-PC home site license is a bargain, but
you're better off paying more for more protection.

GFI VIPRE Antivirus 2012 Blocks Malware, BUt There Are Better Options

VIPRE seems to do a good job keeping malware from infiltrating a
clean system, but when challenged to clean up already-infested
systems it didn't so well, especially against rootkits. It does
offer an unusual 10-installation home site license, which is
quite a bargain. However, some free solutions have proven just
as effective.
