Apple App Store: Not So Safe?

Call it blind faith, but most of iOS users assume every app in
the App Store is safe. After all, Apple has a reputation for
spending weeks or months reviewing an app submission before it
can enter the App Store. When it inexplicably rejected apps like
the "gay cure" app or the Google Voice app, there was a sense of
security. But that sense is false.

Post-Zappos Hack: 5 Ways to Protect Yourself Online

Cyber criminals broke into the servers of Amazon-owned retailer
Zappos and exposed 24 million passwords and email addresses. The
company quickly assured members that no credit card numbers were
leaked, but a good cyber thief doesn't even need your credit
card number to make charges in your name. Even if you weren't
affected by the Zappos breach, it's worth spending an extra 30
minutes to protect yourself online. Who knows, your favorite
website could next.

Are Viruses Breeding In The Wild?

Scientists studying pathology know that DNA exchange between
pathogens is a very real threat. An innocuous microbe with
immunity to certain antibiotics might promiscuously share that
immunity with a much more virulent microbe. It's a serious
worry. Now researchers at Romanian antivirus giant Bitdefender
suggest we may face a similar problem with different types of
malware effectively "breeding" in the wild.

Comodo Firewall 5

Comodo Firewall 5 stealths ports as it should, but its program
control is effectively off by default. Its Defense+ behavior-
based protection blocks both good and bad programs, pushing
security decisions off onto the user. Webroot has shown that
behavior-based detection need not hassle the user; Comodo should
learn that lesson.

Comodo Antivirus 2012

Don't rely on Comodo Antivirus 2012 to clean up an infested
system; it's just not good at that. It will keep a clean system
clean, as long as you read and correctly respond to many popup
queries from its Defense+ component. It's not for everyone.

eBlaster Mobile (for Android)

eBlaster Mobile is a decent mobile monitoring tool for keeping
an eye on a young smartphone owner, but savvier users will know
how to circumvent the app by turning it off or rooting their
Android.
