Dearest mailist members,

My name is Fahmi, IR-UI 2009/EDS UI member. Right now, i am currently interning in the office of Vice Governor of DKI Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, or better known as Ahok. This will be a long email, so i will thank you in advance if you will bother spending several of your minutes to read the rest of this email.

Through this email, i would like to give an info regarding an opening in the provincial government of DKI Jakarta. Jokowi-Ahok as the new leaders of DKI Jakarta has the vision of creating "Jakarta Baru", and one of the backbone program to achieve that vision is through increasing public participation in the government programs. To succeed that goal, Pemprov DKI Jakarta is maximising a program known as Respon Opini Publik (ROP). Through many channel, such as Lapor! (I am pretty sure some of you are familiar with this, it's an awesome program by UKP4), direct SMS to vice governor's phone, etc, ROP system tries to increase participation of every DKI citizens so that when they see any problems or wrongdoings by government officials, it can be easier for them to report it.

However, this ROP system is still far from succeeding. Latest report reveals that the number of satisfaction for ROP is only reaching 50%, while the target is actually 80%. This low satisfaction level then hinders people to continue using this ROP, making the number of reports decreasing each month. There is also a problem with the minimum level of socialisation for the program, making the effectiveness of ROP far below the level Pemprov DKI wants.

Therefore, Pemprov DKI is right now seeking for 10 people to fill up the posts in the ROP team. The main job is, in essence, creating a better, more effective ROP system. Several infos regarding the opening:

    1. Eligibility: minimum undergrad degree by January 2013, no specific majors required. What's needed is actually passion in wanting to help creating a better government that connect with its people. Further challenge is that the team will be working with government's bureaucrats, as there will be (of course) bureaucracy.

    2. Contract: The team will be working under Pemprov DKI. However, the team will be working under contract (not becoming a PNS) in one-year term. Continuation of contract after one year is possible. There will be salary of course. Not big, i'll say enough.

    3. MIsc. things: the team will be working full hours, 8-4, mon to fri, in Balaikota DKI Jakarta. the program will start in January 2013.

So there you go. If i need to 'sell' this job, i think it's pretty clear that i cannot sell it in salary or 'keamanan kerja' (it's contract). However, this job will be interesting for those who are interested in making changes, real changes. I hope you're not seeing me selling this just because i am now intern in Ahok's office, but personally speaking, i can sense that both Jokowi and Ahok are serious in trying to create better changes in the government, and this rare opportunity (of having a working leader in government) is i think a chance we should not miss. We always have the passion to debate/discuss/create solutions for problems surrounding us, so why not try doing it now, via the government channel?

Further infos about job descriptions, salary, or any questions can be directed to me via email (fahmiislami[at]outlook[dot]com) or phone (08569997491). If you are interested in applying, you can send me your CV to the same email above.

Thank you everyone, have a nice day
