Hello everybody,

uimaFIT has been contributed to the Apache UIMA project. Further development is going to take place there. Currently, uimaFIT lives in the "sandbox" of the UIMA project [1]. Once it has been adapted to the standards of the Apache Foundation, we expect it to graduate to an add-on. We also hope that concepts first implemented in uimaFIT will eventually find their way into the UIMA-J core implementation.

For the time being, the Google Code project remains open for issues and the mailing lists remain intact. Eventually, uimaFIT will use the Apache UIMA mailing lists and the regular Apache issue tracker [2]. In fact, the Apache issue tracker can already be used to file issues against uimaFIT and people have already used the UIMA mailing lists in the past to ask uimaFIT-related questions.

The next release is expected to be made based on the Apache uimaFIT version, unless we find major issues which require an intermediate release.

Thank you for your interest in the project so far! We hope you have had a great time with uimaFIT and that move with us to the Apache Foundation.

Cheers and seasons greetings,

-- Richard
on behalf of the uimaFIT team
