ICF International, Inc. seeks a Sr. Research & Evaluation Specialist / Health Communications Specialist with expertise in the theory, design, implementation and evaluation of public health interventions and campaigns. We seek a seasoned professional able to use qualitative and quantitative research methods to evaluate public health interventions and campaigns that target various audiences, especially hard-to-reach and vulnerable audiences (e.g., low income populations, African Americans, Latinos, Asian Pacific Islanders, Lesbian and Gay populations, etc.).

 

Primary responsibility for this position will be to conduct rigorous evaluations of public health communication and marketing interventions and/or media campaigns. Candidates must have experience doing audience segmentation and formative evaluation to develop creative communication concepts, messages and materials. These rigorous research activities contribute to the development of evidence-based programs and campaigns targeting individuals, families, communities, health professionals, and policy makers.

 

Candidates must have the ability to conceptualize research and evaluation problems, design and implement appropriate research and evaluation methods, apply appropriate quantitative and qualitative techniques, and effectively communicate both orally and in writing with colleagues, clients and their constituents. A strong track record in campaign evaluation design and methodology, combined with a solid grounding in public health, health communication, policy, social science, or behavioral science research is required.

This is a full-time position, supporting the Atlanta, GA office. Candidates must be willing to relocate, if necessary, to Atlanta, GA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing, implementing and evaluating health communication and marketing activities
  • Managing primary qualitative and quantitative data
  • Collecting and tracking primary and secondary data
  • Translating research and evaluation findings
  • Drafting research materials, protocols and guidance documents
  • Managing clients, staff, and large scale research and evaluation studies
  • Report writing, hi-level presentation development, and manuscript development

Basic Qualifications:


•Master's degree in public health, public policy, behavioral or social sciences, or related field required.
•At least 12 years of experience in public health research and evaluation with some exprience in in the field of health communications and marketing.
•Experience developing, implementing and evaluating health communication programs and/or campaigns is required.
•Experience developing and evaluating social marketing efforts is required.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access) is essential in this fast-paced client oriented environment. Working knowledge of SPSS or STATA is preferred.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • PhD highly desired
  • Previous research experience on the topics of Cancer and other chronic diseases, HIV/AIDS and STDs, Public health preparedness, and/or immunization is highly desired
  • Experience evaluating new media and social media (includes mobile based technologies) efforts
  • Experience working across a wide variety of Federal government stakeholders, including grantees and project officers, is preferred. Experience with government programs is preferred.
  • Skill in performance measurement and indicator development is preferred.
  • Knowledge of policy and environmental change approaches is preferred.
  • Understanding of evidence-based practices for chronic disease prevention is preferred.

Professional Skills:


•Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, computer proficiency, and the ability to multitask under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
•The ability to manage research teams of 4-5 staff is required.
•The ability to manage discrete tasks with limited supervision is required.
•Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work both independently and as a team member are required.
•Expertise in independently developing reports, one-pagers, briefs, and presentations is required.
