Hey Mary,
I made an abstract, let me know if you think its bad in anyway. I'm sending it to you early in case you want me to re write something. I think we have a pretty good idea. Basically we are trying to get to something where you can manipulate stuff through a robot across the internet. This is just a slight modification from our original design, we just let a php script handle input from a web page and turn that into serial transmision to the robot.

JINX Abstract

There is a need for the ability to manipulate or view objects in human hostile environments. Some examples of this are: pipe inspection, bomb defusing, remote inspection and automated palate jack.  The most accessible medium for remote control of the robot would be the internet; it’s worldwide and ever growing. Just think if you could outsource the unloading and organization of pallets from a semi truck to 13 year olds across the internet.

We propose to make a semi-autonomous robot that can be manipulated by users across the internet. The robot will have sensors to aid the user such as: line detection, collision detection, gps and an accelerometer. These sensors will help the user navigate and automate some redundant tasks.

Since we only have two semesters, the scope of them will only encompass navigation portion. There will be no work done on attachable arms or object manipulators.

Do good, Be Well,
Michael

I will also need an abstract on Monday to send to the industry advisors.

Thanks,
