Flyer looks great! I know that Sid is not going to be doing the lecture, and that is going to be changed, but I do have a suggestion for future flyers. Sid, being an Alt Av for the RL person who is, as we know, SiFan, should be treated as a completely different person than SiFan. Because, in a sense, he is. I, personally, feel that you shouldn't mention that Sid is an Alt for SiFan. Refer to Sid, as an expert in the field of Media Streaming. No one needs to know that he is SiFan in disguise. Maybe, with his permission, you could use the RL person's name instead.

I have three Alts that I use for various things, like testing, lecturing, etc. Each one has their own personality, tools, costumes, etc. It's part of the Role Playing that is involved with SL. In a sense, Second Life has made me a schizophrenic, in Second Life, Not RL!

This is just a suggestion. What do you think? Can we make a discussion out of this? Anyone what to do a study to see if Virtual Worlds can be linked to Schizophrenia? Or Vice Versa? Just a thought for all those Grad students and professors out there!

Hi Yoko - I just read the email Sean send out - oh dear. So I
immediately wanted to let you know "its ok". Sean is just reacting to
the quandary I have regarding how to present myself during the next
event.

I hope you are not feeling bad or upset. I was surprised when I saw his
email this morning and immediately thought of and worried about you.

Sean of course is sensitive to some of the same issues that I am and I
think he was just trying to help me (I hadn't said anything about this).

So please pass around that it's ok, I'm ok, and also lots of aloha for
everyone!!!!

Aloha Sean. I just sent what I thought was a private message off to
Yoko just to let her know its ok and not feel bad or anything. Then I
saw it went out to everyone .... ack.

Either way, I also wanted to send you this email saying thank you to you
as well. It was appropriate and timely, and there was a bit of a twinge
when I first read that on the poster, linking Sid to Si (ouch).

So a big thank you for your support!!

We are all learning about how SL is a complex role playing medium, and it's good to have parameters that encompass various practices, e.g., giving the RL name if the person permits it and giving the alt relationship if the person wants to, otherwise leaving it out.

I know some people who do not want their professional or personal RL identity to be known and want only their avatar to be known, and we honor that to respect their person and to respect the creative facility SL provides toward the development of functional avatar personas. I enjoy the diversity and inspiration SL provides in this way.
