Subject: Call for Applications: 2023 Mawazo Fellowship Programme
To: Elaine Mungai <elaine...@mawazoinstitute.org>

Hello!

We are happy to announce that the call for applications for the Mawazo Institute’s 2023 Mawazo Fellowship Programme is now open!

The Mawazo Fellowship Programme is a non-residential fellowship for African women pursuing their PhD studies in any field at an accredited African university. Through the programme, we unlock the potential of African women to conduct high quality research and contribute to issues affecting Africa’s development. We competitively select a cohort of 40 Fellows whose research is relevant to African development priorities, contributes new knowledge to their field of study, and holds the potential for transformational change in their communities, and beyond. Specifically, we support Fellows whose work is actively addressing global, regional, national and/or sub-national development and policy priorities, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The application window opens on 30 January 2023 and closes on 12 March 2023 at 11:59pm East African Time.

Applicants will be given a final decision on the status of their application in late April 2023 and the fellowship year will commence shortly afterwards. Successful applicants will participate in a 15-month training and professional development programme, receive funding for research activities, benefit from mentorship and networking opportunities, and gain visibility via Mawazo Voices, our public policy and engagement, and strategic communications programme.

PhD students working in the following thematic areas are encouraged to apply:

Agriculture and Food Security | Business, Trade, and the Economy | Climate Change, Natural Resources, and the Environment | Education and Pedagogy | Energy and Engineering | Gender, Rights, and Governance| Information and Technology | Life and Health Sciences | Mathematical and Physical Sciences.

To learn more about Fellows benefits, eligibility requirements, selection criteria, and to review frequently asked questions, please visit https://mawazoinstitute.org/fellowship

Applications will be accepted through our online portal which will remain open until 12 March 2023.

We hope you will support our search for the next cohort of Mawazo Fellows by sharing this call for applications widely!

Thank you for your support!

On behalf of the entire Mawazo Team,

Elaine Mungai
