PhD student position is available in the Dept of Animal Science at
Cornell
University, Ithaca, NY to work in the area of animal genetics and
genomics
with a start date in August 2012. Our lab is interested in the genetics
of
complex traits in cattle, small ruminants and in using a mouse model to
dissect the epigenomics of obesity and metabolic syndrome from both
quantitative and molecular perspectives. Competitive applicants will
have
the following minimum qualifications:

1. Hold a MS in animal science, biology, biochemistry or applied biology
discipline.

2. GRE General Test with combined verbal and math score of at least
1200.

3. If from a non-native English speaking country (outside US, Canada,

TOEFL test or the following on the individual components of the iBT
version
Reading 20; Writing 20; Listening 15; Speaking 22

4. Previous research experience in genetics and molecular biology,
especially with peer-reviewed publication(s) is a distinct advantage and
will factor into the selection process. Stipend is very competitive at
roughly $29,000 per year, and comes with full tuition waiver and health
insurance. As long as the PhD student is making good progress towards
the
degree, funding is guaranteed for 4 years.

Interested applicants should send me a full CV with score information on
the above tests and a one page statement of career interest and plans.
The
application deadline to apply for this position at the Graduate School
of
Cornell University is January 15 when the completed application and all
supporting documents must be received by the Graduate School. Applicants
are encouraged to apply early as much as possible.

Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or need additional
information.

Sincerely, Ikhide
