Dear Members,
The Commonwealth Youth Health Network needs your help!
From April 19th, Commonwealth leaders from around the world will be meeting in London for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
Along with their CHOGM invite, leaders will be receiving an invitation to attend a high level summit on malaria, on April 18th. This is their chance to show they are serious and committed to ending this ancient disease. Some countries, like Sri-Lanka, have managed to eliminate malaria. With the right action we can all contribute to eradicating malaria by 2030, saving millions of lives.
Commonwealth Day, March 12th, takes place a month before the Malaria Summit. On this day, and the surrounding days, is an opportunity to call on world leaders to step up at the Malaria Summit, and commit to ending malaria in their country, and around the world
.
Malaria must be eradicated so millions of people can live! Call on your government to make it happen by taking part in our Commonwealth Day of Action!
Help your leaders get the malaria message now by:
- Tweeting/posting about malaria on Monday using the hashtags #MalariaMustDie #CYHN and #ourCommonwealth
- Here is a suggested tweet to start you off:
In April #ourCommonwealth leaders meet to discuss our future. Last year malaria killed almost half a million people. We need to end it but we need Commonwealth leaders to listen. Share to declare that #MalariaMustDie #CYHN http://malariamustdie.com/
Or why not create your own tweet, telling your government why young people need action on malaria!
Finally, let us know what you have planned and we will make sure to feature your activity across our social media channels.
The right to life and right to health (access, services, information, treatment) are fundamental human rights. The Commonwealth Youth Human Rights and Democracy Network endorses this campaign.
We look forward to your participation.
