ESTABLISHING COMMUNITY TREE NURSERIES:

Greetings from Greening Uganda/Greening Forestry Services. As we head into the 2ND Season August-December, Time is now to prepare your Large Scale Commercial Tree Planting Tree Nursery OR Community tree Nursery Beds to raise Seedlings for the 2ND Season Planting (August-December 2024)

Today Climate Change is getting real, and it is affecting all of us. The only timely action within our human means, it is implementing mass community tree planting. If every NGO, CBO, CHURCH, MOSQUE, Schools, Colleges, Universities, Members of Parliament in Uganda, established a community tree Nursery of 50,000 trees, we will have 200,000,000 (Two Hundred Million trees) planted across Uganda in a single season, and this can double to 400,000,000 trees in 1 year. Climate Change is real and already with us, we have witnessed several times floods, River Nyamwamba in Kasese, Bududa Landslides, Kasese, Kabale, Kisoro Landslides, Flooding of River Nile Banks, Flooding of Lake Kyoga, Lake Victoria, Lake Albert, this has displaced thousands of Ugandans. Our neighbors in Northern Kenya, have witnessed an adverse extreme drought for two years.

We need to accelerate tree planting at community levels, calling community leaders, political leaders, religious leaders, Ngo’s, CBO’s Schools, Individuals across the Nations. Establishing community tree nurseries will make timely availability of tree seedlings to everyone for planting e.g. in Schools, Churches, Mosques, homes etc.

We conduct community based tree planting and agro forestry activities, as an on-going activity e.g. visit https://web.facebook.com/pg/greeningugandaforestryservices/photos/?tab=albums

DROUGHT TOLERANT TREES:

For areas that receive low rainfall, the solution is to plant drought tolerant tree species e.g. NEEM Tree, Ficus Benjamina (Ever Green), Grivellia, Jackfruit, Mangoes, Jambula, Melia Vulkensii, for FIREWOOD, you need 1st growing trees e.g. Eucalyptus, Calliandra, Laucaena, & Gmelina Arbhorea etc, for more details on our available seeds, kindly visit us at https://web.facebook.com/pg/greeningugandaforestryservices/photos/?tab=album&album_id=904605649705626

TREE NURSERY BED TIMELINES:

Usually a wide list of tree seedlings take approximately between 90-120 days from sowing, pricking and transplanting. Therefore to raise tree seedlings for September, October, and November planting season, nursery beds must be established between May & June. Establishing your own tree seedlings nursery bed, will help you cut down the cost of tree planting to 60%, no delays in seedlings delivery, and no damages in seedlings during transportation etc
