Hey MARSians,
If anyone is interested in shooting archery, we are having a competition soon; all levels of skill are welcome. See details below. We will also just be doing some fun shooting later on in the semester. Also hopefully, we will be getting some throwing knives and axes as well as spears going as soon as we have our target built.
What: Baronial Live Weapons Championship
Date: Saturday, February 22nd
Time: 2-5pm
Place: Bunny's house (1060 Williamsburg Place, Watkinsville, GA 30677)
We
will be shooting a royal round, which is 6 arrows untimed at each
distance (20 yards, 30 yards, and 40 yards) and 6 arrows at the 20 yards
with 30 seconds. There will be a warm up shoot to practice at each
distance. Any fun shooting will depend on time. We will go over Meridian
shooting rules and etiquette before we begin.
If you want to participate you should bring:
- your blue card (it's okay if you don't know what this is) or you get to sign a waiver
- bow
(not compound, no sights, no modern spring/flipper rests, plunger
buttons, stablizers, clickers, or modern string releases) It can be made
out of any material. Reminder: PVC bows don't do well in colder
temperatures. I've seen one break. It is very startling. Crossbows are
allowed. (no compound, breakcocking or nonperiod, center shot, trackless
crossbows)
- wooden arrows with feather fletching. (we have some if you need to borrow any)
Probably a good idea to bring:
- a quiver
- gloves/tabs
- arm brace
- closed toe shoes
Let us know if you have any questions.
