The average person doesn't give much thought to the possibility of extraterrestrials arriving, beyond how the topic is depicted in entertainment. If it came to pass, and even if the visitors were not malevolent marauders, most people would find any differences in their appearance and behavior to be disturbing. At best, probably they'd eye extraterrestrials with distrust, just as they do anyone outside thier own "tribe."

It may be a simple question but the answer is quite difficult.

Humankind was and is deeply brainwashed by several and very old, very powerful agencies. So if it would be a sudden arrival then I would answer: " Yes".

I want to thank everyone who kindly responded to this informal “survey” about whether you feel there is or isn’t social fear regarding a possible arrival of extraterrestrials to our planet. I’ve consulted two European and one Spanish/Hispanic UFO forum lists. The very modest personal intention was to know the sentiment of a group of long-time ufologists on this question.

All I needed was basically a simple “yes” or “no.” Mainly to compare it with the survey conducted in the U.S. in 2021, in which 51% of Americans thought there was no fear about the arrival of aliens on Earth (specifically, that they did not represent a threat). Obviously, I’m aware of the limits of the representativeness of this micro-survey — I merely wanted to get a sense of the impressions of a handful of European and Latin American researchers (it has included a couple of US citizens).

The set of responses (n=37) indicated that the option suggesting that the public is not afraid of a possible extraterrestrial visit stands at a ratio of three to one. A notable difference from the U.S. — surely due to the media hysteria of recent years surrounding UAPs, the Navy and Pentagon UFO programs, and the congressional hearings.

The average person does not think about what exists beyond their smartphones, let alone extraterrestrials. In general, I do not think world’s society can be afraid of something they do not think about. Furthermore, if surveyed, the average person would likely say they would not be afraid were such a thing to occur, but this is only because ignorance is bliss, and it is like a 7 year old child telling their parents they could watch a rated R horror movie and not be scared. Just because someone proclaims their own courage in a vacuum doesn't mean it’s actually true in context. Many people are delusional and lack self-awareness. In truth, were such an event to openly take place, paranoia would take over and public reaction would be terror, because that happens every time when the invaders are human.
