HEAL's Test Bank
This year we have revived the test bank resource for our members and it is ready to go!
Click on the following link to view the available resources:
IMPORTANT :
1) You must have at least 15 HPs (health points) to be able to access the resources. Then it is free for you to access.
2) You get +4 HPs for donating to the test bank (smoking notes, study edge packets, tz packets, etc.) and -2 HPs per week if it is returned after the due date (which is next GBM).
3) TO ACCESS: After seeing which resource you want, email me at resourc...@gmail.com. They will only be disbursed during general body meetings so PLAN IN ADVANCE! You must notify me at least 2 days before the GBM. First come first serve.
4) TO RETURN: You must bring the resource back in the next GBM or earlier at any HEAL event (social, volunteering, etc. but you must contact me to see if I will be there).
5) Only one resource per person can be checked out at one time.
P.S.: Have any exams or course materials that you CAN'T WAIT to get rid of??? Give them to Sonia Dela Cruz, your Public Relations and Resources Officer, and all of HEAL will benefit! You can contact her at resourc...@gmail.com.
Confessions of a HEAL Officer!
Research Tips
While many of us are hoping to get into medical school, I’ve come to realize that the prestigious invitations into these schools are generally for those that are willing to set themselves apart from everyone else. How so? First off, students have to be well rounded, with an ability to maintain a relatively high GPA while participating in various activities such as volunteering, shadowing, participation in school organizations, and research. While some of these are easier than others to get into, how you approach these goals is one step towards setting yourself apart from the others.
Sure, we hear about research but for those that aren’t currently involved in a lab, it can be quite intimidating looking for a new position, especially if you’ve never worked in a lab before. What’s the solution? Speak to your professors. Though another seemingly daunting task, getting to know your professors is truly a great idea. Why? Because, these professors likely have a lab, or know colleagues that are actively involved in research, as well as which of these colleagues might be looking for a new undergraduate assistant. For me, this was how I was able to snag my latest opportunity at my research lab, by filling the position before they could even publicly announce the need for one!
Therefore, if you’re in need of a good opportunity, find a teacher that you enjoyed or a department whose research interests you and get to know a professor or faculty member there! Not only can they refer you to potential opportunities but they’ll also be able to provide you with letters of recommendations in the future (remember, you need 5!). That however, will be another entry in the future. Now go find out your teachers’ office hours and say hi!

The Tool Known as HEAL
When I was running as historian, I wasn’t sure what all it entailed. At the end of freshman year, I looked forward to being on the e-board of a club that helped me carve a niche in AASU. At first glance, it seems the historian just takes pictures at meetings and events. Later, I found the position also involves creating flyers and scrapbooking, and I learned to appreciate the time commitment for those tasks. I was quite nervous with flyer design, because I hardly had Photoshop skills at that point. I’m still not well-versed, but I had learned tremendously about art and the program every time.
I’m grateful to HEAL for the opportunity to actualize creative energy into something that serves a purpose, advertising and promotion, rather than leaving my interests in art and digital art as fruitless experimentation. To those who are interested, if you are creative, not even artistically inclined, look into this position. You essentially are preserving HEAL’s legacy which is significant. In addition, you are historian; yet you’re on a team of motivated leaders that have the same resolutions. Furthermore, if you so choose, you may have the chance of being an APIA liaison and have a deepened understanding of issues concerning the Asian American community.
