Involvement Opportunities

1. Target Positions:  Target (a company whom i'm sure most of you have heard of), is looking to fill their internship positions with sophomores/juniors, and full-time leadership roles with graduating seniors, and will be visiting the campus during the months of September and October to find the best fits! open positions range from Store Executive Internships to Executive Team Leaders, and more!  This is a great opportunity, and if you are looking to get into this field, definitely one you don't want to miss.

2. RA applications: Have you ever been interested in becoming a Dorm Resident Advisor (RA)? IHRA is opening applications to be come an RA for the coming year. If you are interested, you are encouraged to come to an info session (schedule seen here: http://www.housing.ufl.edu/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/InformationSessions3.pdf), where questions about training, payment, and other benefits will be answered. 3.Gatorship: Gatorship is a unique leadership experience for both emerging and experienced student leaders at the University of Florida. It is designed to be an intense and thought-provoking weekend retreat during which over 60 participants and student staff have the opportunity to interact through team building activities and group discussions. The focus is to identify current leadership issues in a multicultural society both at the University of Florida and in the community. Participants will engage in educational sessions and serve as peer educators through the sharing of personal experience. 5.White House Initiative on AAPI's Spring Internships: The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) is currently seeking spring interns.  We will consider part-time applicants who can commit to at least 20 hours a week, with priority given to those who can work full-time.  We are looking for interns who have a strong interest and familiarity with issues impacting the AAPI community and outstanding research, writing, and computer skills.  Interns at the Initiative are responsible for assisting the staff in researching a wide range of issues impacting the AAPI community, including education, health, economic and community development, civil rights, and labor and employment.  In addition, interns will help develop policy memos and proposals, organize events, and conduct outreach to national and local AAPI organizations, elected officials, federal agencies, and ethnic media outlets. The Initiative works to improve the quality of life and opportunities for AAPIs by facilitating increased access to and participation in federal programs where they remain underserved.  We work collaboratively with federal agencies to increase AAPI participation in programs in education, commerce, business, health, human services, housing, environment, arts, agriculture, labor and employment, transportation, justice, veterans affairs, and economic and community development. If you are interested in applying, please send a statement that describes (1) one issue that affects the AAPI community, (2) a strategy that you would implement at the Initiative to address that issue, and (3) the organizations and/or federal agencies with whom you would collaborate. The statement should be submitted to whiteho...@ed.gov and should be no more than one page, single-spaced.  Resumes, transcripts, and cover letters will not be considered at this time, so please limit your submission to the statement. The deadline to apply will be October 15 for the Spring Session (January-May). 

6.Multicultural Advertising Intern Program: Have you ever wanted to intern in one of the world’s most exciting and creative industries? The American Association of Advertising Agencies is now seeking applicants for the Summer 2014 Multicultural Advertising Intern Program. The program places students at paid internships in major cities and offers pre-professional training in the advertising industry. The program is open to juniors, seniors, and graduate students, and the application is due October 25thPlease join us for an informational meeting Tuesday October 1st at 7pm in Weimer G030.       • Where: Various Locations on Campus, including Library West, Marston Science Library, and the AT CSE Computer Lab.
      • Note: This is super important, and I can't stress this enough! The people elected to SG are the people that get to use a part of YOUR tuition money in order to better the student experience here at UF. Make sure your voice is heard!
