Involvement Opportunities

1.Boston College Study Participation: We would like to invite you to participate in our study which focuses on Asian Indians' views about men and women, views about and experiences with gender and sexual violence, and about living in the United States.  I invite you to participate if you:

-          Are 18 years or older

-          Are of Asian Indian descent (either born in the U.S. or born outside the U.S.)

-          Are fluent in English (Survey is administered in English)

-          Currently live in the United States


Your participation in this study will involve the completion of several questionnaires related to background information, your perspectives about living in the United States and about men, women, and sexual violence.  These questionnaires can be completed online via Qualtrics and should take you about 20-25 minutes to complete.  At the end of your participation, you will be given the option to participate in a raffle for a $75 gift card to Amazon.com. If you are interested in participating in this study, you can access the survey at the following web address: https://bclynch.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_eFqn2yiprqkWh9iIf you have any questions concerning this research study, please contact me at tumm...@bc.edu or (617) 552-4491.  


2.AASA 2014 Applications: The Asian American Student Assembly (AASA) displays the diversity and talent of the Asian American Student Union and its cultural and professional subgroups. With an intriguing mix of skits, videos and performances, AASA entertains and informs freshmen about available resources. AASA is the largest show put on by the Asian American community at UF and serves largely as the catalyst for the forthcoming school year. Applications are due Sunday March 9th at 11:59pm.

3. AKM Director Application: Asian Kaleidoscope Month (AKM) is a month-long celebration of Asian & Asian American culture, history, and heritage. Through its educational and innovative programming, AKM aims to inspire the University of Florida and Gainesville community to embrace the Asian & Asian American culture. Applications are due friday, March 14th, at midnight.

4. APIA OFFICE Leadership Development InstituteBased off the UF Leadership Model, the APIA Leadership Development Institute aims to develop self-awareness, build confidence, and help students discover their personal leadership skills and style in order to better serve both the APIA and greater UF communities. Participants who are accepted to this institute go through bi-weekly workshops focused on the different components of the UF Leadership Model and APIA affairs.  Each workshop includes facilitators, reflective exercises, and group activities in a safe space where participants can learn from each other as well as presenters. The first workshop on 2/18 will take place in Peabody Hall 411. 5.AASU's Relay for Life Team:The Philanthropy that we have decided to sponsor for this year's AASU Week is that of Relay for Life. Relay for Life is an Nationally-Acclaimed event hosted across the US by the American Cancer Society, and AASU is making a team for this event! 6.SERCAAL Early Registration: The Southeast Regional Conference of Asian American Leaders (SERCAAL) is a non-profit, student-led conference established in 2004 by a group of University of Florida students. Its mission is to explore the Asian American identity and to inspire attendees to become leaders in their communities. Over the years, SERCAAL has grown to become one of the premier ethnic-interest collegiate conferences in the Southeast region, providing an outlet for social/professional career networking, keynote speeches, captivating entertainment, and hands-on educational workshops.Early Registration for the Southeast Regional Conference of Asian American Leaders is now OPEN!
