1.Boston College Study Participation: We would like to invite you to participate in our study which focuses on Asian Indians' views about men and women, views about and experiences with gender and sexual violence, and about living in the United States.  I invite you to participate if you:

-          Are 18 years or older

-          Are of Asian Indian descent (either born in the U.S. or born outside the U.S.)

-          Are fluent in English (Survey is administered in English)

-          Currently live in the United States

Your participation in this study will involve the completion of several questionnaires related to background information, your perspectives about living in the United States and about men, women, and sexual violence.  These questionnaires can be completed online via Qualtrics and should take you about 20-25 minutes to complete.  At the end of your participation, you will be given the option to participate in a raffle for a $75 gift card to Amazon.com. If you are interested in participating in this study, you can access the survey at the following web address: https://bclynch.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_eFqn2yiprqkWh9iIf you have any questions concerning this research study, please contact me at tumm...@bc.edu or (617) 552-4491.

2.Asian American Studies MinorHave you ever wondered why you’ve never really heard the stories of Asians and Asian Americans in history books? In the movies? On tv? The Asian American Student Union has been fighting for ten years and we’ve finally established the Asian American studies minor. This minor provides students with an opportunity to concentrate on Asian American racial politics, gender issues, community building, and culture and is a great way to explore subjects not brought up in general education.
We urge you to take an Asian American studies class this semester, whether for a minor or just for fun. Courses offered this semester: WST 3930: Asian women and diaspora AML 3673: Racial Identities in Asian American literature.

3. Linsanity Movie Screening: If you've been paying attention to basketball, you might have heard of a little player by the name of Jeremy Lin. This superstar rose to fame in the spring of 2012, and has been the talk of the town ever since. If you've ever been interested in how all of this "Linsanity" got started, the Asian American Student Union will be hosting a movie screening of a documentary about Jeremy Lin's rise to fame on Monday, November 15th, at the Hippodrome Theatre. The event details can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/events/353199254824866/ and if you'd like to purchase tickets for the event, you can do so here: http://www.tugg.com/events/6105 The event will NOT happen if there are less than 75 tickets sold, so please, tell your friends! This is a one-time screening, and definitely not anything you'd like to miss.

4. ECAASU Scholarship: The East Coast Asian American Student Union (ECAASU) strives to inspire, educate, and empower individuals interested in APIA issues. It hosts an annual national conference featuring workshops, guest speakers, entertainment, networking, and opportunities to learn more about APIA issues and advocacy. This year's conference will be held February 21-23, 2014 in Washington D.C. UF AASU will also sponsor partial travel scholarships for the conference, open only to current UF students.

If chosen to receive the scholarship, a recipient will be required to submit a Campus Action Plan (CAP) after the conference. This is a 4-5 minute presentation on a topic discussed at ECAASU and the recipient's ideas on how to educate the AASU and UF communities about that topic.

The scholarship application is DUE on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 11:59 PM. We will contact you to set up an interview time.

5. UF Housing Fair: The Fall 2013 Housing Fair is to be hosted November 20 from 9am-1pm at the Reitz Breezeway and Northwest Walkway. The fair is designed to educate and inform students about the different housing opportunities and amenities our Gainesville apartments and living complexes have to offer. In addition, there will be lots of great giveaways and complimentary food and refreshments.
